"The best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain." ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
There is a farmers crop beside our farm where we witness preparation, planting, growth, harvest, and rest, each and every year.
The farmer comes to tend to the soil and crops in sync with Nature, in order to maximize on the abundance of his fields.
Nature is beyond his control. If it rains, it rains. If it is dry, it is dry. These things he cannot control.
There is a certain faith this farmer puts into Nature and his work; a belief that everything will work out for his crop; a trusting in the process.
As humans, we have adopted this idea that we can control our lives and every aspect of it. This destructive school of thought lands us operating our lives more like robotic machines than creatures of Divine Nature. We take a liking for routine a leap further by letting our routines rule our minds, with a disregard for our body and it's wisdom.
When I first set out on the spiritual path, I began to notice my own attachment to routine and habit within the perspective of the observer. In doing so, I was able to step outside of my experience and become the witness to the musings of the human mind.
Noticing my own mind in this way became a practice that would change my life. Rather than allow the habits of the mind to become the dictator of my day to day life, I began to undergo a slow, and sometimes painful, transformation.
"Yes, your transformation will be hard. Yes, you will feel frightened, messed up and knocked down. Yes, you'll want to stop. Yes, it's the best work you'll every do." ~ Robin Sharma
I realized that I had discredited the innate wisdom of my intuition in exchange for a false sense of security. It was a painful realization. Suddenly, life, as I believed it to be, was over. There was a period of debilitating anxiety around this revelation, which was followed by empowerment, liberation and spiritual freedom.
I began to move with the ebbs and flows of Life.
It felt good to rest when my body said "rest". It was healing to listen.
There are times when action is required of us. There are times when all we need to do is simply be.
There is a time to celebrate. There is a time to mourn.
There is a time to speak and a time to listen.
The more I tuned into the Universal intelligence, the more I was able to adhere to the requests of my highest Self. The power in this process is in the ability to exercise discernment rather than fall victim to the routines of the mind, where the body becomes a disconnected portion of existence.
"Intelligence is present everywhere in our bodies...our own inner intelligence is far superior to any we can try to substitute from the outside." ~ Deepak Chopra
Ultimately, these requests show up in order to maintain an ease of the flow of Life as well as balance among mind, body and soul. By becoming the listener, we enable our selves to restore holistic balance in every moment. By defying the ideals we are conditioned to follow and beginning to actually live in the presence of the authentic, and wise, self, we expel the beliefs that once were our greatest limitations and we become boundless and bountiful.
There is a time for everything. You are not a robot. You are not a machine. You are a beautiful creation of the Divine and you carry the wisdom of discernment.
It is time to listen.
With much love,
